Who Benefits from Teeth Whitening?

Professional teeth whitening can serve most patients seeking a more natural sheen to their smile without altering the structure of teeth. There are a number of situations where dental staining can be addressed particularly well by teeth whitening. This includes discoloration due to excessive fluoride exposure or use of medications known to have a cosmetic impact on teeth. Patients whose teeth appear yellowed due to the normal wear of the outer layers can see improvement after whitening. Additionally, teeth whitening may minimize the stains that result from drinking coffee, tea, or wine as well as from smoking.

While effective, teeth whitening is not a permanent solution. To keep your teeth bright, Dr. Bommuwill work with you to provide regular maintenance. It is also important to note that teeth whitening will not change the color of restorations such as fillings or crowns. Dr. Bommumay recommend replacing these to give a more consistent, natural appearance to your smile.

What Does Teeth Whitening Involve?

Our goal is to create the look of a naturally white smile. One of the more popular options offered by Yorkshire Dentalare take home systems, personalized treatments that produce noticeable results. A key to the success of any teeth whitening system is the professional grade whitening agents used. To take full advantage of this powerful, yet non-abrasive solution, patients are provided with custom-fit whitening trays that securely hold the whitening agent against their teeth.

Starting with your first visit, Dr. Bommuwill take impressions of your teeth in order to manufacture customized whitening trays that enable precise whitening solution application. Once the custom trays have been created, patients will return to our Yorkpractice for the treatment. After this hour-long treatment, patients go home with a noticeably whiter smile. Whether as a supplement to the in-office service or as the sole recommendation, Dr. Bommuwill provide you with proper care instructions for safe and effective at-home whitening. We also encourage regular follow-up visits at our Yorkoffice to monitor progress as well as to assist with any issues that arise during treatment.

The amount of time you will wear your tray at home depends on the degree of discoloration and your unique smile goals. This ranges from twice daily wear for 30 minutes to wearing the trays overnight for a period of a few weeks. Some sensitivity is normal after whitening and should subside gradually afterwards. Contact Yorkshire Dentalimmediately if the sensation does not diminish over time.

Back

Dr. B is kind and very skilled. I needed fillings and she was booked full in the summer, so she scheduled me on her lunch hour and took care of my teeth. I just went back for other fillings and her level of care is quite high. I was also taken to the exam room right away. There is hardly any wait time each time I go.

Great cleaning this morning. I was nervous since I have not had a cleaning since exiting the Air Force in 2013. Thanks to Dr. B, I have a fresh smile (and breath) and even a new toothbrush and toothpaste!

After not going to a Dentist in over 10 years I was suffering from sever pain from my wisdom teeth. My first appointment was for a cleaning and x rays to see the status of my teeth and to get a plan for removal of the wisdom teeth. After having the Dentist go over the X rays I apparently had 3 cavities as well that I had little knowledge of, so they got me scheduled for 3 fillings, then for all 4 of wisdom teeth extractions. Within less than a month all my dental work was taken care of and now I am no longer in any pain and I can eat without worry. Thank you very much for making this a much better experience than I ever thought it would be.

So compassionate and loving. These ladies do a phenomenal job with adults and children. Two of my children had to have teeth extracted and they went above and beyond for the kids. They made sure they knew everything that was going on and made an environment so pleasant for them. Such a welcoming environment! I am so glad we chose Dr. B and the fabulous team she has!

Great place to get your teeth cleaned and worked on. The hygienist was extremely kind and careful with my more sensitive teeth during the cleaning. Even got X-rays taken and all of it done in less than an hour. They are all very kind and considerate of the people they are taking care of in there. I don't even have dental insurance and the prices were reasonable enough that I was able to pay for it all in full. Highly recommend going here.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening York PA (2024)

FAQs

Why are my teeth not white enough after Zoom? ›

Other people have told me they see a “fading” of their white teeth in only 6 months to a year after ZOOM. It all depends on the individual and their eating and drinking habits. If you drink a lot of Red Wine, eat Soy Sauce, SMOKE CIGARETTES, etc.., then the white isn't going to last as long.

Is there a downside to Zoom whitening? ›

While Zoom teeth whitening is generally safe, there are a few potential side effects to be aware of. The most common side effect is temporary tooth sensitivity, which can range from mild to severe. Some individuals may also experience gum irritation or white spots on the teeth, although these side effects are rare.

Why didn t Zoom whitening work? ›

What went wrong? The biggest thing which went wrong is your dentist doesn't know anything about cosmetic dentistry. while Zoom Whitening is an extraordinarily effective treatment for whitening stained teeth, it is not the correct treatment for uneven teeth.

Why are my teeth yellow after Zoom whitening? ›

Another factor that can contribute to yellow teeth after Zoom whitening is poor post-treatment care. After undergoing Zoom whitening, avoiding certain foods and drinks that can cause staining, such as coffee, tea, and red wine, is important.

Do teeth continue to whiten after Zoom whitening? ›

After the completion of ZOOM whitening, a slight brightening of the tooth enamel may occur in the first two weeks. The patient should not ignore the zoom aftercare instructions. This is due to certain processes until the permanent color of the enamel is fixed.

Why do my teeth not stay white after whitening? ›

The tooth enamel after a whitening treatment is especially porous and absorbs color like crazy, so it's extremely important to avoid coffee, tea, dark soda or wine. Think of your teeth as if it were a white t-shirt. Anything that can stain a white shirt will more than likely stain your teeth.

Is there anything better than Zoom whitening? ›

In other words, laser whitening is more comfortable than zoom whitening in terms of the sensation you feel during and after the treatment. Zoom whitening may offer higher protection to your mouth but may cause discomfort and sensitivity in your teeth and gums, especially if you have thin enamel or gum recession.

What is better than Zoom whitening? ›

This suggests that combining both treatments might be the best option. On the other hand, laser teeth whitening can provide results that last a few months up to three years. The reason is that the laser helps to penetrate deeper into the enamel, which helps the whitening gel to be more effective and longer-lasting.

How much does it cost to zoom whiten your teeth? ›

Generally, the entire Zoom WhiteSpeed costs approximately $500, while the Zoom QuickPro costs between $125 and $150. At-home treatments cost less than in-office options. However, they take longer and may not achieve perfect results.

Why are my teeth still yellow after whitening? ›

Teeth can become temporarily dehydrated after using whitening strips. Your teeth may appear more yellow as a result of this dehydration because the enamel may become dry and lack moisture. Dehydrated enamel sometimes has a transparent appearance that makes the naturally yellowish dentin underneath visible.

Are some teeth unable to be whitened? ›

The natural color of teeth can vary due to various factors, including genetics, age, and lifestyle habits. Some individuals naturally have teeth that are darker or have a yellowish tint. These teeth may have a denser enamel layer or more pigmented dentin, making them more resistant to whitening treatments.

How many years does Zoom whitening last? ›

There is no one-size-fits-all answer for how long Zoom whitening will last. On average, the results last for 1 to 2 years. However, this varies from person to person based on their lifestyle and how well they take of their teeth after the whitening treatment.

How many times can you zoom whiten your teeth? ›

Dentists do not recommend performing the Zoom procedure more than once a year. So, you will have to take measures to prevent re-staining if you want the white effects to last longer. Therefore, you should change your lifestyle habits and diet and improve dental hygiene.
