Hamburgers In The Oven
When I say these are Messy Burgers I’m not exaggerating. Line up the napkins and get ready to hunch over your plate while you enjoy this cheeseburger. But trust me, the mess is worth it. Between the burger juices, melty cheese and secret sauce. . . the delicious mess is where the flavor is.
Make two fatty burgers with this recipe or 4 quarter pounders. While these are oven baked burgers, we do pan fry the patties first to get that char and seal in the juices. You want to undercook the patties slightly so that they finish cooking while in the oven.
Ingredients Needed For Baked Cheeseburgers(screenshot for grocery list)
Mix mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish and chili powder. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 375ºF
Combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. Form into 4 thin patties, sprinkle with salt.
Heat oiled pan over medium/high heat. Fry patties on each side until just under-cooked. This will usually take 3-4 minutes depending on thickness.
Assemble burgers: Place bottom bun on large piece of foil. Top with slice of cheese, burger patty, onions, 1-2 Tablespoons sauce, second cheese slice and top bun. Bring up edges of foil and wrap securely around burger. Repeat process to prepare each burger.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until hot, melty and cooked to preferred doneness.

no. the hamburger will know and refuse to stay on the bun.
We recommend simply shaping the beef into a vague burger shape with the least amount handling as possible. Or if you'd rather work smarter than harder, you can also use a stuffed burger press like the Big Boy Burger Binder, which shapes the perfect burger every time. Go easy on the flipping too.
Do You Have to Flip Burgers in the Oven? No, and that's the beauty of cooking burgers in the oven! Cooking them on a wire rack set inside a baking sheet allows the heat to get under the patty, which helps the air circulate and cook evenly without having to flip them.
watch the edges, and don't flip them until the edges are browning. also pay attention to the way you shape your burgers. if they're much thicker in the middle than they are on the edges, the middle will still be loose while the edges of the burger are firm. and then you have the fall-apart thing happening.
I wouldn't say either method is better than the other. I love to broil hamburgers, and I love to cook them on the stove too. Both are easy to do, and both allow you to make burgers indoors, any time of year. Everyone will have their preference, but I recommend trying both methods to see what works best for you.
After forming it into a patty, he explains that the egg actually helps bind the meat together, and adds an incredibly rich flavor to the burger patty. As a good rule of thumb, it's best to add one yolk per pound of ground beef.
Burger Patty Method: Pressed with Your Thumb in the Center
Pressing a thumb into a burger patty doesn't require any special shaping or make for a wildly shaped patty while cooking. It gave the burger just a little bit of shrinking leeway to prevent a ball-shaped burger.
To make burgers in the oven at 400°F (200°C), bake for approximately 18-20 minutes. This higher temperature will yield a slightly quicker cooking time. However, always use a meat thermometer to ensure the burgers reach your preferred level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
ANSWER: About 10 minutes on each side at 400F; maybe a little less or more time (+\- 2 min). If you want to cook hamburgers in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, it usually takes around 15-20 minutes.
Once you've picked the right meat, the next step in making this incredibly juicy hamburger recipe is the addition of crushed crackers. Sound crazy? Trust us, it works! This is because the starch in the crackers keeps the natural fat and juices from escaping the patty during the cooking process.
If you want to use a binder in your meat, but don't want to use egg, other alternatives are flour such as wheat flour, cracker crumbs, or even oatmeal.
Avoid extra-lean grinds. The higher the fat content of your ground beef, the moister the patty. A burger with beef that's 80% lean (i.e., 20% fat) is luxurious and juicy.
Don't manhandle your meat. That's not a dirty joke! ...
Make a dip. Make an indentation in the middle of each patty.
Is it better to cook burgers in the oven or on the stove? It's up to your personal preference! Baked burgers are a great, nearly hands-off cooking method that won't fill your kitchen with the smell of frying beef. Pan-fried burgers, on the other hand, have the benefit of a tasty sear from the cast-iron skillet.
While you may love the ambiance and chargrilled taste outdoor grilling offers, cooking burgers in the oven tends to make them juicier and more tender. Some say baked burgers taste better because the oven allows heat to be evenly distributed.
Cook the burgers in a frying pan on a medium heat with one tablespoon of oil until fully cooked and browned on both sides. Alternatively, bake in a preheated oven on 200°C / 180°C fan / gas mark five for 20 minutes until fully cooked.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, 1 egg, and a generous amount of salt and pepper to season (half tsp each). Egg is a burger binding agent for the ground beef patty.
If you're going for a leaner meat or adding bulky ingredients (eg spring onions, onions, chillies), add an egg and a handful of breadcrumbs to bind the burgers.
After flipping the burger, a slice of American (or cheddar) cheese is added to one of the patties, and the second patty is placed directly on top. This way, the cheese gets heated from both sides simultaneously and rapidly melts, helping the patties stay together on their trip to the bun.
