Beginning of Summer Celebration. 11 AM. The Cascades Splash Pad opens today with free admission sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Jackson. Free pizza and ice cream (while supplies last) provided by Jackson Little Caesars and Cascades Ice Cream Co.

Jackson Blues Fest. M&K Jetting & Televising presents the 23rd Annual Jackson Blues Fest. June 6, 7, and 8. 10138 Tompkins Road, Rives Junction (Tompkins Center). Salvation Army National Donut Day. 7:30 AM to 11 AM. Support our partners and honor Salvation Army National Donut Day by purchasing donuts and fresh coffee from Petey’s Donuts and The Coffee Grind Food Trucks. Back to the Bricks in Downtown Jackson. 5 PM to 8 PM. Back to the Bricks event is a one-day celebration featuring some of the finest classic cars from mid-Michigan. Join us on Friday, June 7th, from 5-8 PM for an unforgettable evening of automotive history, food trucks, and live entertainment. Back to the Bricks returns to downtown Jackson for the first time in 10 years, kicking off its tour of mid-Michigan’s best destinations. This special one-day event features some of the finest classic cars, celebrating the positive impact of hard work and determination on our community. Sharp Park Mini Golf. The Ella Sharp Park Mini Golf is now open for the season. 7 days a week, 12 Noon to 8 PM. 18 holes: $7 per person. Groups of 5 or more $5 per person. Located at the Fourth Street entrance to Sharp Park.

Jackson College Astronomical Observatory Public Viewing. 9 PM to 11 PM. Jackson College’s new Astronomical Observatory will hold public viewing nights on Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-11 p.m. (weather permitting) now through the month of July. Viewing nights provide the public with an opportunity to look through the new high-tech telescope to see the planets, the moon and stars. Astronomical Observatory Coordinator Talia Burns will be available to explain what guests may be looking at and to answer any related questions. Guests are also welcome to bring their own telescopes; the site has an outdoor platform area with several piers for amateur astronomers. Those interested are advised to check the weather beforehand. The telescope is ADA compliant and accessible to people in wheelchairs. When entering Central Campus from Emmons Road, take the service drive to the left; the observatory is just beyond the softball and baseball fields.

54th Annual Jackson Rose Run. Get ready for an exciting day of running, walking, and family fun at the 2024 Jackson Rose Run, taking place on Saturday, June 8, at JacksonCollege’sCentral Campus! Thisyear’sevent, part of the Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists Race Series, will include a 10-mile run, 10K and 5K runs, a 5K walk, and a Kids Fun Run! Virtual options are available for those who cannot attend. The events will kick off at 7:30 a.m. with the 10-mile run. The 10K, 5K run, and 5K walk will start at 8:00, 8:01, and 8:02 a.m. respectively. Kids fun run starts about 9:30 a.m. Gather at the Jets Hangar, located on the south side of the campus off Browns Lake Road. The cost is $35 through June 7 and $40 on race day, June 8. Virtual 10-mile, 10K and 5K runs are $15. Overall Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers of Open (all ages), and Masters (40+), in the 5K Run, 5K Walk and 10K Run. Ella Sharp Museum Art, Beer & Wine Festival. 2 pm – 7 pm. Presented by County National Bank. Join your friends (and make new ones) at Ella Sharp Museum’s 19th annual Art, Beer & Wine Festival presented by County National Bank. A favorite community tradition, experience many of Michigan’s best wineries, breweries, cider mills and artists. Springport Raise the Bar 5K Run Walk. Our 3rd annual, fun, local, hometown 5k race to help Raise the Bar for all Springport running athletes. This event will be run entirely in the town of Springport around a 2 lap road and trail course there will be ample opportunities for spectators to cheer on all the athletes. We will start and finish at the Springport Bible Church this year. T-shirt included with run, as well as some finish line giveaways! Event page here.

South Jackson Community Church Annual Strawberry Festival. South Jackson Community Church, 1024 W. Kimmel Road, is hosting its annual Strawberry Festival from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9. The event is drive-thru only, and cars can enter through S. Jackson and Kimmel roads. The price is $8 for a homemade slice of shortcake, strawberries and two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Each item is packaged individually. People can enjoy their shortcake in the church’s parking lot or take it to the Dahlem Center, across the street, at 7117 S. Jackson Road.

Cherry Creek presents Sounds of Summer. Select Sundays & Thursdays.
