Is Michelin a Costco brand? ›

Michelin is Michelin no matter where you buy it. It's a trademark name and they do not allow anybody to put it on any other tire. It may be true that the tires at the dealer may be different than the ones at Costco but that's because of different applications of use.

Some tyres are marked with M+S on the sidewall, including all-season and winter tyres.

Most tires purchased and installed at Costco come with a free five-year roadside hazard warranty (some heavy truck tires may not qualify). Under this warranty, Costco will repair tires that have been rendered unserviceable due to cuts, punctures, or other non-repairable damage.

The first two of these digits designates the week of the year the tires were made, and the final two digits are the last two digits of the year of manufacture.

Ten years is a maximum

If the tires haven't been replaced 10 years after their date of manufacture, as a precaution, Michelin recommends replacing them with new tires. Even if they appear to be in usable condition and have not worn down to the tread wear indicator.

All-Weather tires perform well in both summer and winter seasons. But all-weather tires are better than all-season tires in the winter. All-weather tires carry the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol and all-season tires typically do not. NOTE: All-weather tires still do not perform as well in winter as winter tires.

You should rotate your tires approximately every 6,000 to 8,000 miles (about 9,600 to 13,000 km). For some of you, this is the same time as your car's service. The right time may also be when changing from winter to summer tires. Or simply when you buy new tires.

Tire Installation Requirements

Costco will not perform services on tires purchased by non-members. Costco will only install tires authorized for a specific vehicle. If you are unsure if your purchase is an authorized fitment, contact your local Costco tire center for assistance.

Like all of the major tire stores, new tire installation at Costco includes static balance (not dynamic or wheel spin balance). Costco does not perform alignments but the techs may inform you of the need based on wear patterns on the tires they remove.

The Costco Advantage

The Installation Package also includes Lifetime Maintenance Services that extend throughout the life of the tires you purchase (some limits may apply). These Lifetime services include inflation pressure checks, tire balancing, tire rotations, as well as flat repairs.

The tyre load rating or load index (in our example: 91) is a code which corresponds to a maximum load (in kg) that can be carried by a single tyre. The tyre speed rating (in our example: V) is a code which corresponds to the maximum speed at which a tyre can carry its maximum load.

Tires have numbers listed on the sidewall that tell you the tire's type, width, aspect ratio, construction type, diameter, load index, and speed rating. Tire numbers change depending on these seven factors, but all manufacturers use the same tire code system.

Look for the letters D-O-T followed by a series of up to 13 characters. For tires made since the year 2000, the tire date code is always the last four numbers in the series. The first two digits represent the week of the year the tires were made, and the last two digits indicate the year.

Your tire's Tire Identification Number (TIN)

The first two numbers identify the week, and the last two numbers identify the year of manufacture. Thus, a TIN ending with "3815" indicates that the tire was made during the 38th week of 2015 and would appear as DOTXXXXXXX3815 on the sidewall of the tire.
